Who’s is it for?

Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation is suitable for organisations of all types and sizes – from sole traders through to large multi-site employers. iiE can help any business, whatever their industry and size.

Investors in the Environment (iiE) was launched because we knew there was a need to work with businesses on various support levels, and that many companies wanted a simpler and more flexible alternative to ISO14001.

iiE was launched with the aim of helping businesses save money, implement good working practices, and reduce their impact on the environment.

How does it work?

There are three Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation levels that your organisation can work towards. This means that there is a suitable level for every company wishing to go green – from taking the first steps towards environmental improvement through to becoming a truly sustainable business.

The step-by-step approach within each accreditation level allows your organisation to set achievable targets and establish a pathway of continual improvement. Our role is to provide help and support for you to work through the criteria.

Once organisations have met these criteria and provided an Environmental Management System (EMS) pack with relevant evidence, it is audited to show credibility, and then businesses are awarded their accreditation.

We require businesses to demonstrate their environmental credentials and performance for the following criteria:

  1.  A Green Champion appointed
  2.  Environmental Policy in place
  3.  Measure and understand resource use
  4.  Set targets for improvement
  5.  Create Action plans
  6.  Have a recycling system
  7.  Create a travel plan
  8.  Calculate and understand your carbon footprint
  9.  Communicate and engage
